U & T Visas

It is the policy of the South Orange Police Department to assist persons seeking to apply for U & T Visas in
accordance with the New Jersey Attorney General Directive 2018-6. Victims of qualifying crimes or victims of
human trafficking may be eligible for U and T Visas. Persons seeking information related to obtaining a U Visa
or T Visa may contact the South Orange Police Department Detective Bureau at 973-763-3000 (Ext 5).

U Visa

The U.S. Government reserves a limited number of U Visas per year for victims of certain qualifying crimes
who have suffered mental or physical abuse and who assist law enforcement or government officials in the
investigation or prosecution of criminal activity.

T Visa

The U.S. Government reserves a limited number of T Visas per year for victims of human trafficking who assist
law enforcement with any reasonable request in the detection, investigation and prosecution of human
trafficking.

Once it has been determined that a person seeking a U Visa or T Visa meets the requirements, the assigned
South Orange Police Detective will complete:
Form I-918, Supplement B, U Non-immigrant Status Certification
