Latest Update:

August 7, 2020 9:13 AM

On Tuesday, Tropical Storm Isaias left 2,248 residences and businesses in South Orange, out of a possible 7,043, without power. As of August 6, PSE&G reports that power has been restored to 1,578 customers. PSE&G reports that there are still 670 customers without power.

The Village has been in constant contact with PSE&G and has made it clear that we expect our residents to have their power back ASAP.

Attached is the list of customers that PSE&G says will likely go into this weekend without power. These residences if necessary, should consider alternatives if they are unable to stay at home.

If you are without power, it is recommended to contact PSE&G by text (“OUT” to 4PSEG), online through MyAccount, on their mobile app, using Alexa or by calling 1-800-436-7734. Never assume a neighbor has already called for outages on your street.

Additionally, please be reminded that on Monday, August 10, the Department of Public Works will begin a sweep of the town for fallen branches. The sweep is expected to take multiple days. Residents are welcome to place branches four inches or smaller in diameter curbside for collection. Please do not place large leader limbs, tree trunks, roots, or branches large then four inches at the curb. These will not be collected by the Township. Ensure debris is placed curbside by Sunday night as once DPW completes a street they will not circle back. This cleanup does not require an appointment.
