Volunteering
One of our most valuable resources is the volunteers who take time out of their busy schedules to help make South Orange among the best places to live, work, and visit in New Jersey.
Volunteering Categories
Volunteering in South Orange broadly falls into three categories:
- South Orange Statutory Boards- Boards strictly governed by State statutes and for which appointments are limited to a finite number of individuals for fixed terms.
- If you would like to be considered for appointment to a South Orange board or committee, please complete this Volunteer Application and submit it with your resume, biography, or curriculum vitae (c.v.).
- See list of Statutory Boards here.
- South Orange Committees, Advisory Groups, and Working Groups- Enabled by South Orange's governing body, for which appointments typically are made by the Board of Trustees, Village President, or Village President with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees.
- Helping Hands - Sign up to help out on an ad hoc basis. Let us know your interests, skills and availability and we'll share your information with the various committees and event organizers when needs arise.
Please Note: To be eligible, you must be a South Orange resident, business owner or property owner and at least 18 years of age to be considered for statutory boards and many committees, unless otherwise noted. Most statutory boards and some committees are limited to residents.
