THE TOWNSHIP OF SOUTH ORANGE VILLAGE

ORDINANCE #2024-01

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the following entitled Ordinance was duly considered and adopted after public hearing by the Board of Trustees of the Township of South Orange Village at their meeting held on Monday, March 11, 2024 during a virtual (call-in) meeting utilizing the Cisco WebEx Audio/Video Conferencing System. The following ordinance was adopted:

Title: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF SOUTH ORANGE VILLAGE, approving and adopting a revised charter, adopted by the new jersey state legislature

 WHEREAS, the Township of South Orange Village (the “Village”) has sought the adoption of a revised Charter, submitted to the New Jersey State Legislature (the “Legislature”); and

WHEREAS, both houses of the Legislature have adopted an Act accepted all of the substantive revisions proposed by the Village, with just four (4) minor word revisions; and

WHEREAS, Governor Murphy has signed the Act; and

WHEREAS, the Act requires the adoption of an Ordinance approving and adopting the revised Charter.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Trustees of the Township of South Orange Village, a municipal corporation of New Jersey located in Essex County thereof, as follows:

SECTION 1.  The attached revised Charter is hereby approved and adopted. 

SECTION 2.   On passage, this ordinance shall be codified, together with the attached revised Charter.
