SOMA Film Festival

The SOMA Film Festival showcases exceptional independent narrative and documentary films in the heart of Maplewood and South Orange. The festival begins with an opening night soiree and screening, ends with a closing night award ceremony and showcases over 100 great films (long and short) in between. The festival is March 19 through the 24. For tickets, please visit eventbrite.

Metal Pickup

Metal Pickup

Tuesday, March 19 is Metal Pickup Day for residents who have prescheduled and paid for the service. Residents may bring metal appliances and all-metal items to the Public Works yard during regular operating hours. Pickup requests should be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance for a fee of $75. For more information and to schedule your pickup, call the Public Works Department at 973-378-7741 x1. For general information on recycling, visit the Village Recycling Webpage.

 

Bulk Pickup

On Thursday, March 21, DPW will collect household bulk items with the exception of metal and electronics for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is a 6 item limit. This is a $75 service scheduled by contacting the Public Works Department at least 2 weeks in advance at 973-378-7741 x1.

Road work

Road Work Around Town

During the week of March 18, there is excavation and paving work scheduled for Radel Terrace & Ward Place. The work will be from 8 am to 5 pm and should take no more than 2 weeks, weather permitting. During the excavation phase, your driveway access MAY be limited. During the paving phase, your driveway access WILL be limited. If you need your car, please relocate them to an adjacent street prior to 8 am.
You will not be able to gain access to your driveway until after 6 pm. If you have questions regarding road closures or specific construction issues please contact Deputy Engineer, Ed Gulyas at 973-378-7715 x 2266.
