MLK Observance & Volunteer Fair

South Orange Maplewood Community Coalition on Race presents the 18th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Monday, Jan 21 at 2:00 pm, at Columbia High School. Following the celebration, there will be a Reception and Volunteer Fair at 3:30 pm in the cafeteria. The event is free and open to all. The keynote speaker is the Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey, Sheila Y. Oliver, the first woman of color to serve in statewide elected office in New Jersey history.

Metal Pickup

Metal Pickup

Tuesday, Jan 22 is Metal Pickup Day for residents who have prescheduled and paid for the service. Residents may bring metal appliances and all-metal items to the Public Works yard during regular operating hours. Pickup requests should be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance and the fee is $75. For more information and to schedule your pickup, call the Public Works Department at 973-378-7741 x1. For general information on recycling, visit the Village Recycling Webpage.

 

Attend a Town Meeting

Want to get more involved in your community? Attend a meeting. You will get a first-hand look at all the ins and outs of our town and it is a great way to participate and make a difference in the town. Please note that meetings are subject to change with short notice. Refer to our events calendar for up-to-date information.

  • Recreation & Cultural Affairs Committee Meeting on Wednesday, Jan 23 at 8 AM at the Baird
  • S.O. Transportation Committee Meeting on Wednesday, Jan 23 at 7:30 PM at the municipal office
  • Environmental Commission Meeting on Thursday, Jan 24 at 7:30 PM at the municipal office
