Open Space Trust Fund Town Hall

Join us on October 8 for this in-person town hall discussion on the upcoming ballot referendum proposing an increase to the Open Space Tax Levy, currently set at $0.01/per $100 of assessed value, to support the preservation and enhancement of parks, recreational facilities, and natural areas.

Public Works Events
Metal Pickup: Tuesday, September 16
DPW will pick up metal recyclables for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Metal Pickup Form
Household Bulk Pickup: Thursday, September 18
DPW will collect household bulk items with the exception of metal and electronics for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Bulk Pickup Form
Container Day: Saturday, September 20, 8 AM; 300 Walton Ave
South Orange residents are welcome to drop off household bulk items at the Public Works facility between 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Proof of residency is required and no commercial vehicles (U-Haul's/ Home Depot rental vans) are permitted on the property. Electronics, construction material, and hazardous waste will not be accepted at these events.

BOE Candidates' Forum 2025
Join us on October 6 to learn about the BOE candidates who are running for the 3 open seats. This annual forum is an opportunity to hear about the candidates' commitment to excellence and equity for all students in SOMA and to integrated schools and classrooms. Sponsored by the Schools Committee of the Community Coalition on Race.

SOPD coat drive 2025

SOPD Coat Drive
The South Orange Police Department PBA Local 12 is once again hosting its Annual Winter Coat Drive to support those in need during the cold months. We can’t do it without you!
Clean out your closets and make room for the new season! We are collecting new and gently used, clean coats for both adults and children. All donations will go directly to local residents and charities.
Donations can be dropped of at Police HQ , 201 South Orange Ave. Deadline is October 13. Distribution will be October 19 at 10 AM at the Sloan Street gazebo.
