Community Day/Bike Parade 2025

TAPS Committee

Join our first Transportation and Pedestrian Safety Committee meeting on Wednesday, September 17 for a discussion on changes to Church St. to enhance pedestrian safety and consider dedicated bike lanes. Meeting Details Here.

Public Works Events
Metal Pickup: Tuesday, September 16
DPW will pick up metal recyclables for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Metal Pickup Form
Household Bulk Pickup: Thursday, September 18
DPW will collect household bulk items with the exception of metal and electronics for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Bulk Pickup Form
Container Day: Saturday, September 20, 8 AM; 300 Walton Ave
South Orange residents are welcome to drop off household bulk items at the Public Works facility between 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Proof of residency is required and no commercial vehicles (U-Haul's/ Home Depot rental vans) are permitted on the property. Electronics, construction material, and hazardous waste will not be accepted at these events.

Meadowland Park Conservancy Events

Dance Festival: September 13; 2:30 PM
Bring a lawn chair and a snack and join us for Meadowland Park’s newest offering: The Meadowland Park Dance Festival! The MPDF gives our local dancers a chance to perform original works and allows us to support their development as artists.
Birdwatching: September 14; 9 AM
In partnership with the SOPL, the MPC presents our first-ever birdwatching tour of our park. Expert guides will help you discover the multitude of birds and waterfowl that happily live in our park. Bring binoculars and good walking shoes! Registration is highly advised.
SOPD coat drive 2025

SOPD Coat Drive
The South Orange Police Department PBA Local 12 is once again hosting its Annual Winter Coat Drive to support those in need during the cold months. We can’t do it without you!
Clean out your closets and make room for the new season! We are collecting new and gently used, clean coats for both adults and children. All donations will go directly to local residents and charities.
Donations can be dropped of at Police HQ , 201 South Orange Ave. Deadline is October 13. Distribution will be October 19 at 10 AM at the Sloan Street gazebo.
