Stronger Than Steel Screening

In honor of Women's History Month for a screening of Stronger Than Steel: The Senator Wynona Lipman Story, a documentary that explores the life of Sen. Wynona Lipman (1923-1999) the first African American Woman Senator in New Jersey.
This free event will be held on March 29  at 2 PM at the Baird.

SOMA community meeting

County Safe Streets Plan Meeting

SOMa residents are invited to a community meeting next Monday for the Essex County Safe Streets Action Plan! Following a short presentation, share your feedback via online or paper survey. Help Essex County create a plan to improve pedestrian, bicycling, and traffic safety in SOMa and throughout the county! Can't make the meeting? 
Fill out the county's online survey at bit.ly/essex-ss4a by March 31 to share your concerns and ideas using an interactive map. South Orange will also seek community input later in the year to develop a South Orange-specific Safe Streets Plan.
This meeting will be held in-person on March 17 at 7:30 PM at The Loft at the Baird and available virtually with the meeting link.

Start Smart: From Idea to LLC

Thinking about starting a business or taking yours to the next level? Join us at Start Smart: From Idea to LLC on March 20 at 5 PM at The Co-Lab! This event is designed to connect aspiring and current entrepreneurs with essential resources, expert insights, and networking opportunities. Attendees will hear from a panel of industry professionals, including a business consultant, a lawyer, and the Executive Director of South Orange Downtown, who will share guidance on launching and growing a successful business.
Free for past Co-Lab pop-up businesses, $10 for all other attendees. Registration required!

Open Space trust fund increase

Open Space Trust Fund Proposed Increase
South Orange Village is considering a referendum to increase the Open Space Tax Levy to support the preservation and enhancement of parks, recreational facilities, and natural areas.
We invite you to share your thoughts and learn more about how this effort will help maintain and enhance our open spaces for future generations. Our first Town Hall will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 7PM, Baird Community Center's Stage & Screen Room.
