The South Orange Pool - got many messages requesting we open the pool due to the heat wave. The official pool season begins this Saturday (June 22nd). This date is selected well in advance by working with seasonal pool management staff and lifeguards on availability. However, our fabulous Recreation Director, Matt Gray, was able to pull together sufficient staff to open the pool one day earlier, to Friday, June 21, which will be the hottest day this week. The pool will be open to ALL South Orange residents from 12pm-8pm. Any resident who does not have an Outdoor Recreation Membership will be required to provide identification proving their South Orange residency. Guests will not be permitted on Friday. Enjoy!
Stay hydrated, stay cool, limit outdoor activity, check in on vulnerable populations, and don't forget your sunscreen .
Last but not least, our pets. This is a picture of Democracy from last summer in Florida. She's a good girl and was learning to swim. Careful taking your fur babies out or leaving them out. The pavement is hot hot hot and their little pads can get burned. They need hydration and cool temperatures also. And do not, under any circumstances, do not do not do not leave your pets in your car by themselves. Windows get smashed ; do not do it, not for a quick errand. Nada. Plan ahead.
