Juneteenth Programs by CCR'Gabriel’s Daughter: The Life & Legacy of Clara Brown': June 19; 6 PM; SOPAC This historical documentary beautifully combines narration and opera to tell the story of African American pioneer and freed slave, Clara Brown. To follow is an insightful Q&A with lead performer and co-producer, Lori Mirabal, and co-producer Sharon Shepard-Levine, both esteemed residents of SOMA. Registration required. Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom: June 23; 1 PM, Grasmere Park in Maplewood Guests can experience historical reenactments, musical performances, storytelling, face painting, and crafts. Attendees can also explore the exhibit, Slavery in New Jersey: A Troubled History. Registration required.

Public Works Events Metal Pickup: Tuesday, June 18 DPW will pickup metal recyclables for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Metal Pickup Form Household Bulk Pickup: Thursday, June 20 DPW will collect household bulk items with the exception of metal and electronics for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Bulk Pickup Form Electronic Recycling: Saturday, June 22; 8 AM-noon South Orange and Maplewood residents are welcome to access the recycling facility at 300 Walton Ave to dispose of e-waste (electronic) items. Accepted items can be found here.
