Crossing Guard Appreciation WeekJoin us for the 2nd Annual SOMa Crossing Guard Appreciation Week from February 26 - March 1. During this week, we encourage the public to thank your local crossing guards with a token of appreciation such as a card, a poster, a hot drink, a treat, or just by saying thanks! The guards will also enjoy gift cards courtesy of the South Orange and Maplewood Police Departments and an appreciation breakfast hosted by JESPY House. Our crossing guards are out there in good weather and bad helping to make our streets safer -- please join us in recognizing and encouraging them this winter! Organized by Walk Bike Ride South Orange, SOPD & MPD, and JESPY House.

Watershed Literary EventsWatershed Literary Events kicks off its 2024 season with a reading by poets Roberto Carlos Garcia, Ysabel González, and Jared Harél. The event takes place on Sunday, March 10, at 3 pm, in the South Orange Skate House and is sponsored by the Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs and the Meadowland Park Conservancy in South Orange. All Watershed events are free and open to the public.
