The Pierro Gallery, a facility of the South Orange Recreation and Cultural Affairs Center at The Baird, presents curated exhibitions of work by diverse established and emerging visual artists. We're THRILLED to announce our open call for submissions for our first gallery show. This particular Spring 2024 show is Showcasing South Orange Artists and is limited to residents of South Orange only. Whether you paint, draw, sculpt, photograph, or create in any other medium, we encourage you to submit your work for consideration. The Pierro Gallery strives to be an inclusive space that exhibits artists of all mediums and styles.

Due to a high volume of submissions, we cannot provide feedback on individual pieces. You will be notified if your work is selected for our upcoming show. Deadline for submissions is February 5, 2024.

When a young boy realizes the scope of inequities in the world, he’s inspired to bring together the different parts of himself — the artist, the activist — to become the artivist.

Join South Orange resident Stephanie Lawson Muhammad, founder of Erasing Essex’s Borders, on an exploration of the historical borders that defined the boundaries of South Orange within Essex County and how those borders have impacted African Americans over the last 150 years.  

Routes cover ~ 3.1 miles (5k) and incorporate locations significant to the African American experience.  2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24.

FILED BY IRS CERTIFIED VOLUNTEERS

 

 

Free tax return preparation will be offered again at the 

 

            Burgdorff Center (10 Durand Rd, Maplewood) 

 

every week from February 5th and continuing to April 10th, 2024.  

Appointments are Monday or Wednesday from 9:30am to 12:00pm. 

 

The service is available to all. Volunteers trained in cooperation with the IRS will assist in filing returns, either electronically or on paper.  

Taxpayers do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.

OR call 1-888-687-2277 to receive assistance with scheduling tax preparation appointments.  When you call that number, ask for "Tax Aid" and someone will help you schedule an appointment. You will get a confirmation email later if you provide an email address.

 

Please remember to bring all your tax documents, social security card, property tax card if applicable, and last year’s return.
