Crossing Guard Appreciation Week

We are pleased to announce SOMa Crossing Guard Appreciation Week from February 21 - 24. During this week, we encourage the community to thank your local crossing guards with a token of appreciation such as a card, a sign, a hot drink, a treat, or just by saying thanks! In addition, South Orange's newest committee "Walk Bike Ride South Orange" is partnering with JESPY House and the South Orange and Maplewood Police Departments to provide gift cards to the guards. Our crossing guards are out there in good weather and bad helping to make our streets safer -- please join us in recognizing and encouraging them this winter!

2023 Recycling

Recycling materials need to be separated for two distinct pickups on alternating weeks: one week exclusively for Fibers (cardboard, paper) and the next week for Commingled (plastic, glass, and metal containers). Cross contaminated loads or materials put out on the wrong week will not be picked up.

February 16 & 17 pickup: Fibers (cardboard, paper)

Home Improvement Program

Does your home need repairs? We invite you to apply to South Orange Village’s Home Improvement Program where income-qualified homeowners can receive up to $10,000 in repairs, including:

Roofs
Foundations
Heating & Electrical
Weatherization (windows, insulation, etc.)
Plumbing and lead line replacement
And more!
