Luna Stage is able to add a special matinee of Torn Asunder,  for older adults,  on Thursday, February 16th  at 1 PM.    Cost is $15 per person.  “the play is written and directed by 2 female African-American actresses/playwrights and is especially poignant during Black History Month and as we struggle to come together as a country.”

Free Tax Aid!
 AARP tax aides coming in to South Orange Public Library from Feb 7-April 13, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15-12:15.
Interested seniors should call: 973-762-0230 to make an appointment.
No residency requirement.

Description:An in-person gathering for people who knit, crochet, quilt, sew, embroider or do other creative things with yarn or fabric. Enjoy a relaxing morning working on your projects and get feedback and advice from fellow crafters. Bring your own supplies. All skill levels are welcome! Masks are required.

FREE TAX AIDE!
South Orange Public Library is facilitating appointments and space for AARP Tax Aide Help once again.
To get a tax appointment call the South Orange Public Library at 973-762-0230.  
Prior to the appointment, an Intake/ Interview Form has to be completed by each taxpayer. The library offers the form in person, or can email it to anyone interested.
Tax-Aide will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from February 7 to April 13, every hour from 9:15am to 12:15pm. 
Taxpayers are required to wear a mask, and being vaccinated is highly recommended. Tax aides are required to be vaccinated and wear a mask while in the library.
If help is needed for more than just 2022 tax preparation, two appointments should be given.
If filing jointly, both spouses  should be present at appointment.
    Documents required to bring:
Drivers License/photo ID card for each taxpayer
Social Security cards for anyone listed on the return (including spouse and dependents)
All tax documents
Property tax notice
Medical and other deductible expenses (summary)
IRS Letters 6475 and 6419 if received in January 2022
Previous year tax return, if filed
Intake Form should be completed prior to the time of the appointment (pickup at the library or email)
Email or phone reminders from Tax Aide will be used to minimize "no shows".
Please be advised that tax aide will not help when income from property rentals, income from Uber/Lyft businesses, and returns for sole proprietor businesses with depreciation, inventory, business use of home, net losses.etc., are involved.

SOMA Case Manager, Michelle MS 
This service is available to older adults (65+) who reside in South Orange or Maplewood. 
The SOMA Case Manager and  older adults will identify current needs and discuss resources available that can provide support and assistance. The SOMA Case Manager will help facilitate the connection between older adults and community resources.
