Each taxpayer will be required to have two appointments. At the firstappointment an interview and review of tax documents will be done, and thedocuments will be scanned. You will then leave, and your tax return will beprepared remotely. If any questions arise during the preparation or review,you will be contacted by telephone. When the tax return is completed, wewill schedule a second appointment with you to come back and receive aprintout of your completed return, review it with you, answer any questionsyou may have, and have you sign the final documents, so we canelectronically file the return. Free AARP Tax-Aide Program returns in February
Free tax return preparation will be offered again at the Woodlands (60 Woodland Rd,Maplewood – SECOND floor) every week starting on February 6th and continuingthrough April 12 th , 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.The service is available to all but is intended primarily for middle and low-incometaxpayers with special attention to those aged 60 and older. Volunteers trained incooperation with the IRS will assist in filing returns, either electronically or on paper.Taxpayers do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.To make an appointment, please visitand search for Maplewood, NJ.OR call 1-888-687-2277 to receive assistance with scheduling tax preparationappointments. When you call that number, ask for "Tax Aid" and someone willhelp you schedule an appointment. You will get a confirmation email later if youprovide an email address.Please remember to bring all your tax documents, property tax card if applicable, andlast year’s return.Due to current COVID conditions, masks are strongly recommended. We will bepracticing social distancing as much as possible. You will also need to abide bythe AARP Foundation Covid-19 notice which will be supplied to you prior to your appointment.SOMA Social Work SOMA Case Manager, Michelle MS This service is available to older adults (65+) who reside in South Orange or Maplewood. The SOMA Case Manager and older adults will identify current needs and discuss resources available that can provide support and assistance. The SOMA Case Manager will help facilitate the connection between older adults and community resources.
