Public Works Events

Container Day- September 17, 8 AM; 300 Walton Ave
South Orange residents are welcome to drop off household bulk items at the Public Works facility between 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Proof of residency is required and no commercial vehicles (U-Haul's/ Home Depot rental vans) are permitted on the property. Electronics, construction material, and hazardous waste will not be accepted at these events.

Pop-Up Jewelry Sale

The Friends of SOPL will be holding a series of pop-up jewelry sales on Thursdays throughout September. On September 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 2-6 PM, the sale will be located at SOPL with all proceeds going to the library and all jewelry being donated by the community.

Volunteers Needed!

We are seeking interested members of the community to apply to join the founding Board of Directors of the Community Co-retail Board. This organization will support local and neighboring community makers, artists and small businesses by providing an experiential co-retail, incubation and community-building space located at 59 South Orange Ave as part of the Taylor Vose development project.
We are seeking volunteers for a new Mobility Action Committee (SO-MAC). SO-MAC will prioritize and address community mobility concerns related to walking, bicycling, and other ways to get around SO. If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer application. If you have any questions, please email
