Donation Drive

Join the SOMA community & Girl Scouts on Saturday, March 20 from 12:30 - 4:30 PM for a donation drive in honor of Women's History Month!
Important items are menstrual products, (specifically Ultra Thin Super Pads), books in good condition, nonperishable food items and women's new or gently worn clothing (particularly professional/interview appropriate clothes- on hangers, please).
The drop off locations are Our Lady of Sorrows located at 217 Prospect St, South Orange and Dehart Community Center located at 120 Burnett Ave, Maplewood.

Call For Volunteers

The Village is looking for residents who are interested in volunteering to serve on a variety of Boards and Committees, including, but not limited to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Community Police Collaborative and the newly formed South Orange Community Board.

Public Works

E-Waste Drop Off- On Saturday, March 20 from 8 am to 12:00 PM, South Orange and Maplewood residents may dispose of unwanted electronic waste at the DPW recycling facility located at 300 Walton Ave. Commercial volume waste will not be accepted at this event.
You can find a list of acceptable and unacceptable materials on the SO website.

Essex County Legacies Writing Contest

Seniors with a great story to tell can take part in Essex County's 2021 Legacies Writing Contest. County residents aged 60+ are encouraged to submit an original story about a special person, life-changing experience or a significant period in their life. Several South Orange and Maplewood residents have won awards in previous years, so we encourage everyone to share their stories!
The contest deadline is Monday, April 5. For contest rules and more information, please refer to the Essex County website.

Vaccine Scam Alert!

Please be aware of the COVID-19 vaccine scams taking place via email. DO NOT RESPOND to COVID-19 vaccine email surveys. They will be advertising a "monetary reward" but will require credit card information.
