Village Council Committees

VILLAGE COUNCIL COMMITTEES
The Council's work is supported by Village staff and six standing Village Council committees. Created by the Mayor, Council, and Administrator.  Village Council Committees formalize where the various village departments report and provide a forum for public input.

  • Citizen Engagement & Strategic Partnership - The Citizen Engagement & Strategic Partnerships (also known as Strategic Partnership and Citizen Engagement - SPACE) committee discusses ways to improve citizen engagement and identify opportunities strategic partnerships with private entities such as Seton Hall University. Committee Members:

  • Summer Jones, Councilmember Representative

Meetings: Generally held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 8:30 A.M. Please check the town calendar for the latest dates.

  • Finance & Capital Projects Committee - Finance & Capital Projects Committee discusses finance and any technology related matters pertaining to the Village. Committee Goals: The Finance Committee works to 1) Improve monitoring, reporting and public transparency around the South Orange Village's capital, operating and water utility budgets; and 2) Identify spending efficiencies to be considered by Village Administration and Village Council. Committee Members:

Meetings: Held quarterly at the South Orange Village Municipal Office Conference Room 1 and via Zoom (hybrid meeting). Please check the town calendar for the latest dates. 

  • Health & Public Safety Committee - Public Safety Committee discusses public safety matters pertaining to the Village. Committee Members:
  • Olivia Lewis-Chang, Chair , Councilwoman 
  • Summer Jones, Councilwoman Representative 
  • Jen Greenberg, Councilwoman Representative

Departments Represented: Police Department, Rescue Squad, SEFD (as needed), Health . Meetings: Generally held on the 2nd Tuesday, bimonthly at 6PM via Zoom. Please check the town calendar for the latest dates.

  • Planning & Economic Development  - The Planning & Economic Development Committee discusses planning and economic development related matters pertaining to the Village. Committee Members:
  • Jen Greenberg, Chair, Councilwoman 
  • Olivia Lewis-Chang, Councilmember Representative 
  • Hannah Zollman, Councilman Representative

Meetings: Generally held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8:30AM at the South Orange Village Municipal Office Conference Room 1 and via Zoom (hybrid meeting). Please check the town calendar for the latest dates.

  • Public Works & Utilities Committee - Public Works & Utilities Committee discusses public works related concerns and Village infrastructure matters. Committee Members:

Meetings: Generally held on the 4th Thursday bimonthly at South Orange Municipal Office Conference Room 1 and via Zoom (hybrid meeting) at 8:00am. Please check the town calendar for the latest dates. 

  • Recreation, Arts & Cultural Affairs Committee - Recreation, Arts & Cultural Affairs Committee discusses recreation and cultural arts relating to the Village. Committee Members:

  • Jennifer Greenberg, Councilwoman Representative

Meetings: Generally held on the 1st Thursday of the month via Zoom at 8:30am. Please check the town calendar for the latest dates.
