Please be advised that there are waiting lists for all commuter permits. The NJ Transit and Mountain Station waiting lists are open to the general public. The Resident Commuter list is only open to South Orange Residents. The waiting time for the NJ Transit and Resident Commuter permit is approximately five years. The Mountain Station waiting time is less.
COMMUTERS
Resident Commuters – Rescue Squad Lot 7 (Third St. next to the SO Rescue Squad building).
There is a waiting list for this permit. Resident Commuter Permits are for South Orange residents only. Proof of residency (current utility bill in your name and address) and a valid vehicle registration for each car (leased vehicles must also show a valid insurance card) is required to obtain or renew this permit.

NJ Transit Commuters Lot 11 - (Trenchard Place (SOPAC Way) and South Orange Avenue)
There is a waiting list for this permit. NJ Transit permits are for the general public. A valid N.J. driver’s license and a valid vehicle registration for each car (leased vehicles must also show a valid insurance card) is required to obtain or renew this permit.

Daily parking spaces (yellow spaces) are “first come first serve” and cost $4.00 a day.
Permit parking spaces (white spaces) are reserved until 9:30 a.m. Mon thru Fri
After 9:30 a.m., any unused space (white or yellow) may be purchased for the $4.00 daily fee.
After 1pm the lot is free Mon-Fri and free all day Sat-Sun.
Mountain Station Lot - (Daily Parking - Vose Ave. & West Montrose Ave.)
(Permit Parking – Meeker St. & West Montrose Ave.) There is a waiting list for this permit.
Mountain Station permits are for the general public A valid N.J. driver’s license and a valid vehicle registration for each car (leased vehicles must also show a valid insurance card) is required to obtain or renew this permit.

Employee/Employer Permits are for individuals who own and/or work for businesses in South Orange only. Proof of employment and a valid vehicle registration are required to obtain or renew this permit.

Resident Day Permits - (Corner Lot at Valley and Third St plus lots 2, 4, 5, 6, & 8)
Resident Day and Night Permits are for South Orange Residents who live in multi-family dwellings or apartment complexes with no parking available on the premises. Proof of residency and a valid vehicle registration are required to obtain or renew these permits. Daytime permits are valid in the lots between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Saturday permits are for South Orange Residents who only need parking on Saturdays and not Mon-Fri, who live in multi-family dwellings or apartment complexes with no parking available on the premises. Proof of residency and a valid vehicle registration are required to obtain or renew these permits. Saturday permits are valid in the lots between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

These permits are available to South Orange Residents who need temporary daily parking. A limit of three (3) days per month is allowed. Proof of residency and a valid vehicle registration are required to obtain these permits.

Overnight On-Street Permits – (In front of your residence)
These permits are available to South Orange Residents who live in a single or multi-family home with no driveway. Proof of residency and a valid vehicle registration are required to obtain or renew these permits.

Seton Hall Day Permits – South Orange Avenue Designated Zone Only
These permits are for Seton Hall students and faculty who need off-campus parking near the University. They are valid where designated on South Orange Avenue between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
