Village President Alex Torpey announced today that the 2012 State of the Village Address will take place April 30th at 8pm in the Main Meeting Room in Village Hall.
The State of the Village is required - in writing - to be provided to the Board each year, however, President Torpey believes holding a physical ceremony with a report to the Board and to the public instills a sense of tradition and helps bring the community together around our progress and our challenges. President Torpey's updates will include the 2012 budget, downtown re-development, public safety, technology and sustainability, among other topics, like the challenges to innovation that face New Jersey local governments.
"As the Village President, it's my responsibility to be accountable for what happens here on a day to day basis and it's my responsibility to report to the Board and the public about what we're doing. I hope people will join us on April 30th for what I hope will be the (re)start of a great annual tradition in South Orange."
RSVP to Cathy Cameron at firstname.lastname@example.org or 973 378 7715 extension 2. The address will also be viewable online live and on SOMAtv.
