Policy
concerning the posting of events to the village calendar by community organizations
The Township of South Orange Village makes access to the Villlage's online
calendar available to governmental agencies/units and non-profit civic, cultural,
charitable and educational organizations which are located within the Village
for the posting of public events of interest to the community. Other groups
that are not governmental agencies/units, or non--profits which otherwise qualify,
may participate if sponsored by qualified governmental or non-profit agencies/units.
Profit-making groups, businesses and individuals, and political groups will
not be granted access.
Events to be posted must meet the following guidelines:
- open to the public
- special events of interest to the community
- not associated with any political candidate or party, or in advocacy
of any particular religious belief or political view
- free, or with fees going to non-profit organizations
A link to the organization’s website will also be provided on the Village
website. In the event that such an organization does not have its own website,
further information can be posted at the Village website. Please list routine
meetings and those events tailored for organization members in either of these
locations.
Applications for access to calendar posting will be forwarded to the Community
Relations Committee (CRC). The committee will make a recommendation to the
village with respect to the requested posting.
Listing of an event on the calendar does not indicate that the Village endorses
this activity or its sponsoring organization.
Any requests for reconsideration of decisions on requests for calendar postings
shall be done in accordance with the Village'sprocedures established forsuch
purposes.
Procedure
for the reconsideration of events posted and/or access provided to the village
calendar
Recognizing that there may be some requests for reconsideration of decisions
with respect to access provided or denied to the community calendar, the Village
has developed the following procedures to assure that objections or complaints
are handled in an attentive and consistent manner.
Requests for reconsideration of events posted and/or access provided to the
village calendar or requests for access denied should be referred immediately
to the Community Relations Committee (CRC). [include email here] The CRC will
review the calendar policy and the particular situation.
If further review is deemed necessary, the specifics of the request for review
shall be put in writing and submitted to the CRC.
A reviewing committee of three, including at least one member of the CRC and
the library director, shall be designated by the CRC and the committee’s
recommendation shall be put in writing within 10 working days to the Village.
The Village will then make a determination based upon any and all information
it has available regarding the matter. Its determination will be deemed final.
