Cabaret at The Baird: Music from the Silver Screen
January 16, 2010, 8:00 p.m.
Jazz at The Baird and Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre are collaborating on a cabaret night with songs ranging from the golden age of cinema right up to the present — from “Am I Blue?” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” to “Que Sera, Sera” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Enjoy an intimate musical evening with complimentary coffee and cakes in the candle lit Main Room at The Baird, perfect for a cold January night. Reaching Out, Reaching In: A fine arts exhibition by faculty of the South Orange/Maplewood School District with music faculty participation.
January 17 - February 21, 2010
• 3:00-5:00 pm : Opening Reception, meet the artists. Opening Reception Jan. 17
• 2:30-3:00 pm : “Beethoven to the Beatles,” an informal music presentation by school district teachers, preceding the exhibition reception.
Artists who are also educators are the focus in this exhibition. Many of the South Orange/Maplewood school district’s art faculties are professional, exhibiting artists in their own right. What they bring to the classroom based on their own personal artistic experiences and explorations is what makes the SOMA school district distinctive and strong in all the arts.
