Booked 7: Exhibition of Artist's Books and Paper by BAR members
February 25 - March 13, 2010 10:00 -4:00 Book Arts Roundtable Booked 7, an exhibition of artist’s books by members of the BAR Opening reception : Opening reception: March 4, Thursday, 6:00 - 9:00 with guest speaker Mary Taylor, book artist and digital printmaker. At 8:00 - Guest speaker Mary Taylor will present a powerpoint talk about her work. The extended Gallery hours are daily 10:00-4:00 for this special exhibition with members of the Round Table on hand to answer questions and discuss the techniques with gallery visitors. This highly anticipated annual exhibition features handmade books and paper that stretch the traditional definition of what a book should be. These artists’ creations may hang, float, tickle, or crawl; they may pop open, open on a hinge, or be held together with beaded bindings; some tell a story and some wait for you to fill their pages. A silent auction will be held on Saturday March 13, from 2:00 - 4:00, when this celebration of handmade book and paper arts will conclude the widely attended exhibition. Roundtable members are transforming papier-mâché lunchboxes into works of art to be auctioned off with the theme "Tend Your Garden." The lunchboxes will be on view during BOOKED 7 so that visitors may place their bid. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to a Food Bank here in NJ and to the Artist Proof Studio in South Africa. For more information about BOOKED 7 and "Tend Your Garden" auction, email Karen McDermott at bookartsroundtable@gmail.com .
