The Township of South Orange Village would like to inform our residents of the Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement Program.
The Senior Freeze Program reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled persons for property tax or mobile home park site fee increases on their principal residence. To qualify, you must meet all the eligibility requirements for each year from the base year through the application year. The current application year is 2018.
To qualify for you must meet all of the following 2018 eligibility requirements.
You were age 65 or older on December 31, 2017, or, if under age 65, you were receiving Social Security disability payments on December 31, 2017, and also on December 31, 2018.
You have lived in New Jersey continuously since December 31, 2007, or earlier, as either a homeowner or a renter.
You have owned and lived in your home or have leased a site in a mobile home park for a manufactured or mobile home that you have owned since December 31, 2014, or earlier.
You paid all 2017 property taxes by June 1, 2018, and all 2018 property taxes by June 1, 2019.
Your annual income did not exceed $87,268 in 2017 and $89,013 in 2018. Please note that with few exceptions, all income must be taken into account, including Social Security, pensions, etc. Please also note that the eligibility rules, income limits, and benefits may be changed by the State Budget that will take effect on July 1, 2019.
